Need ideas for newborn photos with parents? You’re in the right spot! I’ve been photographing little ones and families for years and have lots of ideas to share. I always recommend getting newborn photos with parents when you come in for a baby photo session. It’s the perfect time to get updated family pictures. Plus, that new bond between you and your baby is so precious! I love capturing the love and closeness of families during this special time.
When it comes to newborn photos with parents, my advice is to keep things simple. Props are fun, but there’s nothing like focusing in on your precious family. Below, you can see some of my most popular poses with parents and a new baby–or four!
Newborn Swaddles
One of the ideas for Ideas for Newborn Photos with Parents is getting them nice and snuggly. Newborns love to be swaddled, and I often do newborn and parent pics with baby wrapped up snug. This keeps them calm and makes them easy to snuggle. You are also protected from any accidents that may happen and trust me, they often do:)
Black and White Photos
One of the Ideas for Newborn Photos with Parents is doing B&W photos. Black and white is classic, timeless, and it goes with everything! For the same reason, even when I do color, I often shoot these types of photos against a neutral-colored background. The simplicity of these neutral photos helps us focus on the emotion and love that radiates from new parents, rather then props and accessories. And lets face it , there is no greater love then the love between a parent and a new baby.
Parents Hands
One thing I love to focus on in newborn and parent photos: Hands. There’s nothing more beautiful than mom and dad cradling a new life together. Hands are symbolic of safety, security, and love. Seeing dads strong hands holding his fragile , tiny baby makes the story of new life even more beautiful and powerful.
Getting everyone Closer
Another type of Ideas for Newborn Photos with Parents is getting everyone closer and snuggled together. Beautiful poses like this give warmth and emotional closeness to your photos. I often tell dads to just wrap their hands around their wife and give her a kiss. Thank her for being such an amazing, strong woman and bringing this new life into this world. I just love the emotions these simple words evoke and I am there to capture it all.
