Session Planning
I am so thankful that Alena and Tony chose me to be their newborn New Jersey Photographer for their precious baby Olivia. This little one was not eager to make her appearance so we had to reschedule our original session date. In my experience, babies who are born after their due date are more alert and harder to settle than babies who are born before or on their due date. Olivia proved me right! She was a wide awake and curious little peanut. She watched my every move and was always looking for mommy and daddy to pick her up and feed her.
Olivia’s Newborn Session
In instances like this, I start my newborn session workflow with swaddled poses. Most newborns love to be swaddled, so this allows the baby to relax and settle. Olivia let me take some amazing shots of her looking straight in the camera. Those shots are always parent favorites and I love them as well.
Olivia didn’t like being naked, so we decided to skip those shots and use more of my props such as floral wreaths, buckets, baskets and bowls. I have an extensive variety of props in my NJ newborn studio so there is always a new set and look ready for your little one. Baby Olivia liked those set ups so much that she actually fell asleep at the end. We finished the session with no problem.
Alene had asked to include her wedding tiara as well as Tony’s uniform and badge, which I was happy to do. Those special, personal touches make the images even more precious for the family.
Once Alene and Tony got the complete gallery, they loved Olivia’s photos so much that they decided to upgrade to my highest package. I am so happy for this wonderful family and I hope to see baby Olivia again for more sessions.
