Main Dilemma: Full Newborn Session vs Mini Newborn Session

Full Newborn Session vs Mini Newborn Session

I always get asked this question: should I go with a Full Newborn Session vs Mini Newborn Session? Of course the answer depends on your budget, your vision, how many images you want and on who do you want to be involved in your baby’s photo shoot. At this point I only offer 2 types of newborn photography sessions: a full one an a mini one. Please see the differences highlighted below.

Full Baby Photo Session

Full newborn session comes with 20 digital images with the option to purchase more after the session. I have had clients tell me that 20 images is not enough but trust me, you would rather receive 20 amazing images of your little one then 100 of mediocre ones. Think back of all other photo sessions you’ve had and see how many of these images are actually framed and hanging on your walls? I am sure it is not 100.

Full session includes family and siblings but there is no pressure to be in the photos. If you don’t want to be in front of the camera, you will just get more photos of your baby instead. There is no discount if you decide to do that since you are paying for a set number of photos not for who is in it.

During full newborn session I am able to photograph your baby in variety of poses and set ups. This is a major difference between Full Newborn Session vs Mini Newborn Session. I will be able to capture your little one both on blankets, where she or he will be semi-naked , with wraps and outfits, as well as in props, where babies are swaddled. I will be able to offer double the amount of set ups during the full session compared to a mini. I will also be able to create digital composites with the variety of images I’d capture.

Below please see the examples of images that you can expect during a Full Newborn Photography Session.

Mini Newborn Photo Session

Main difference between Full Newborn Session vs Mini Newborn Session is the number of photos included, who can be photographed and the styling of the session. Mini session comes with 6 digital images and is for newborn baby only. No parents or siblings will be photographed during this type of session. Session lasts approximately 1 hour. During mini session your set ups are limited to fully wrapped props. You will not get semi naked baby photos, meaning no outfits. This type of session is perfect for parents who only need few photos for birth announcements or just few keepsakes. Some parents don’t like semi naked photos anyways so this is a perfect solution . And no worries, you can still get amazing images of your baby . Please see examples of a mini session below.
