Best Newborn Photography Props
When I first started my photography journey I was a bit scared of putting babies in props. I was afraid they will fall in or look uncomfortable. I also worried that babies might move and I won’t be able to react quick enough to catch them. All these were very valid reasons and as a new photographer. Once I mentored with some of the most amazing newborn photographers in US and the world, I grew more confident and now I can pretty much pose the baby in any prop with my eyes closed (although I would never attempt it 🙂
Metal Bucket Newborn Session Prop
Buckets are now my favorite Best Newborn Photography Props to use during newborn photo sessions. They are are Best Newborn Photography Props. I do them during every single session but I keep it as a last set in my workflow. Not all babies are fans of being in a bucket and often get a little fussy preventing me from taking the photos. That’s the reason I only do these set ups once I have enough beautiful images to fit the gallery. My favorite bucket vendor is Rozzi Rayne.Â
Buckets are a perfect prop for siblings photos as well. Many times I photograph older siblings next to an empty bucket and then baby alone in a bucket. Later on I do a composite of both photos making it look like they are posing together. It especially helps with toddlers who are often to quick and to unpredictable to safely pose next to a newborn. Safety is always my first priority.

Round Wicker Basket Newborn Photography Prop
It took me months to finally be able to buy this wicker basket. If you are a photographer you know how hard it is to get popular props sometimes. I had to preorder it and wait few weeks for it to arrive. When it showed up at my doorsteps I was in love. I love how perfectly sized it is to fit a baby, I love the handles that can hold greens or flowers, and I love the organic material it’s made out of. Although I have tons of other baskets, this one makes its appearance at almost every session. Baskets really are on of the best Best Newborn Photography Props for a baby photographer.
Square Bamboo Basket Baby Photo Prop
I love bamboo props but until I was able to purchase this one , I was only able to find round ones. When I saw this basket I was instantly in love. The amount of different set up and poses I can do using this basket is endless. Its perfect honey color blends well with every other color making it universal. It’s also sturdy enough that I feel safe posing the baby it in.
Round Wooden Bowl Newborn Prop
Most people don’t realize how hard it is to find a perfect size bowl for a newborn. You don’t want it to be too small or too big. You don’t want it to be too deep or too shallow. Searching for it reminds me of a story of Goldilocks and 3 bears 🙂 You need something just right!
Well let me show you my perfect bowl . No matter how big the baby is , it fits it perfectly. It allows the baby to nestle in and stay perfectly comfortable and safe. Funny story is that I found in in Home Goods in a dish section so I assume it is most likely a large salad bowl. Either way it is one of the best photography props I own.
Wooden Cradle
This wooden cradle reminds me of a little doll crib. Perfectly distressed white color and simple design make it classic and timeless. Many clients of mine request a natural, organic look for their session and I always use this wooden cradle for those set ups. Paired up with a twine layer and some greenery , this cradle photographs amazingly.
