This Baby Photo Session In Hunterdon County NJ was very special. Aryan’s parents saw my photos in Hunderdon Medical Center Maternity Unit and called me to schedule their own baby photo shoot. A while ago I was honored to decorate the entire unit with my newborn photographs and I find it so humbling to have new moms contact me after delivering their baby at HMC.
Honoring Baby’s Indian Culture and Heritage
Aryan’s mom told me that she would like to incorporate few items representing baby’s culture and religion. A peacock feather, I’ve learned , represents wealth, luck, and protection. Peacock is also a national bird of India.
In Hinduism, the Peacock is associated with Saraswati, a deity representing benevolence, patience, kindness, compassion and knowledge. Peacock is also identified with the Goddess of wealth, Lakshmi. That is why people keep peacock feathers at home because it is believed to bring wealth and prosperity in the house. (source)
Using bold colors during newborn session
I loved using bold, dark colors during this baby photo session in Hunterdon County NJ. I was so happy when mom asked to have those included. We decided to use colors that would complement peacock feathers. We settled on teal, green, brown with a touch of cream to soften things up. The combination of these colors turned out beautifully and created a cohesive collection for Aryan and his parents.
