Hackettstown Newborn Photography Session

This Hackettstown couple contacted me about doing a newborn photography session when they were expecting their first baby girl. Lisa was searching for newborn photographers near their home and found my Facebook page. I used to live in Hackettstown so I know it’s a short drive away from my studio. Lisa loved the baby images and we set up a session shortly afterwards.

Abigail’s Newborn Photography Session

Because this was their first little one, mom and dad wanted the focus of our newborn photography session to be on her. They wanted a feminine feel, but also lots of naturals, neutrals, and earth tones to match their home’s decor. Blush pink and white is always a great bet for feminine baby photography. It’s also neutral enough to go with most color schemes.

Mom told me they had decorated baby Abigail’s nursery in olive green with cream and white flower accents. Sounds so pretty! We incorporated some light olive green into our newborn pictures. I love the quiet, understated feel it gave to our session.

Classic Family and Newborn Photos

Even though we focused most of this newborn photography session on baby Abigail, we also wanted some photos of the whole family. They wanted a mix of black-and-white and color photos for the family pictures. Black-and-white photographs are so timeless and classic! Although I love color, I think it’s a great idea to get a few black-and-white shots as well. They are bound to go with any color scheme, which makes them great gifts for grandparents who might want to display your family portrait in their home. These types of pictures are also good candidates for enlarging and framing for areas of your own home that might have a very different color scheme from that in the nursery.
