Photography Model Calls

As a Ringoes NJ newborn baby photographer I am always trying to improve my skills and keep my hand in. For this reason, I sometimes do model calls. This simply means that I reach out to new parents and ask to borrow their baby for an afternoon! In exchange, they receive 5 free digital images of their newborn.

Model calls are a great deal for everyone. They give parents some professional photos of their little one for only the cost of their time. And I get to choose whatever poses, props, and accessories I’d like to use. It’s a great way for me to try some new things and expand the types of shots I can offer my clients.

Layla’s Newborn Session

Kellie responded to my model call. She had had a new baby girl just before Christmas and was very interested in getting some free newborn photos. She brought her sweet third daughter Layla to my studio in Whitehouse Station for a photo session. I was happy to have such a beautiful little model to work with!

I had so much fun playing! It was wonderful to have a chance to try several different props and poses that were new for me and that I’d been wanting to try for a while. I loved seeing how they turned out. My new reindeer baby hat and plaid blanket worked great for a couple of Christmas setups. I also enjoyed combining some unusual elements, like evergreens, thick fluffy bedding, and a woven rope net.

Composite shots are another great way to combine unexpected elements that I normally wouldn’t be able to do for safety reasons. With modern technology though, I’ve learned how to combine multiple photos into one for a beautiful image that doesn’t compromise baby’s safety or comfort.
